Polyurethane (PU) nanofibers were fabricated by solution blowing. The effects of polymer concentration, gas pressure and temperature on morphology and diameter of fiber were discussed. The results show that the fiber with mean diameters in 100nm- 400nm range was successfully obtained, and when the mass fraction of the solution increases, the diameter of the fiber increases. On the whole, the evenness of the fiber diameter tends to decrease. The gas pressure and the temperature affect the fibers’ diameter, and as the gas pressure increase, the diameters of the fiber decrease, while the fiber diameter is gradually larger as the temperature increasing.

New chitosan/poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) nanofibers functionalized with silver nanoparticles were electrospun using solutions of PVA blended with silver nanoparticles-chitosan composites. The structure of the electrospun fibers were studied with the aid of scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results indicated that the electrospun fibers smoothly with 220 to 650 nm diameter, and the silver nanoparticles were successfully embed into the fibers which show high antibacterial activity against E.coli.

Abstract In this study, a novel Co(II)-based adsorbent Co-H2L is developed for the removal of phosphate. The batch experiments demonstrate that the Co-H2L possesses preferable ability of phosphate capture from water in mildly acidic to neutral pHs, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 194.44 mg P g−1. Adsorption isotherms for phosphate agree with the Langmuir model, suggesting a monolayer process. The mechanism for phosphate adsorption onto Co-H2L mainly followed the coordination mechanism, and the Co valence electron orbitals play the key role in the phosphate adsorption. In addition, the Co-H2L adsorbent can selectively remove phosphate ions in the presence of the competing ions (Cl−, NO3−, and SO42−) at higher concentrations. Our results therefore indicate that the Co(II)-based adsorbent is expected to find extensive applications in phosphate removal for water management.

The paper expatiates the nano material application on the nonwoven field and we carry on antibacterial test to the nonwoven fabric. All of these show that nano technology combine with nonwoven industry will have a great potential for widening product application field and promoting product overall performance, will create huge economical, social benefit on nonwoven industry in the future.

Polypropylene (PP) melt-blown nonwoven has a good performance on thermal insulation, but it easily can be compressed tightly and hard to recovery. In this paper, to improve the disadvantage, we blended PET crimp short fibers into PP melt-blown nonwovens. Results showed that polyester (PET) crimp short fibers blended in melt-blown nonwovens supported as skeleton, effectively improved the bulkiness and compression-resisting performance of productions, as well the warmth retention properties.

Polyester fiber needle-punched nonwovens with different structures were manufactured and their sound absorption properties were examined using the standing wave tube method. The results show that the sound absorption property of the nonwovens depends on their thickness, needling intensity, fiber diameter and surface structure.

Nonwoven fabrics possess good acoustics properties and are used widely in many fields. Based on the Zwikker and Kosten theory, this paper suggests a numerical method for calculating their acoustical absorption coefficient.
