Nano metal–organic frameworks (ZIF-8) particles were synthesized, and poly­(lactic acid) (PLA)/ZIF-8 nanocomposite films were prepared by solution-blending and film-casting methods. The addition of nano ZIF-8 particles improved the mechanical properties and had an impact on the crystallization of PLA. The electrical properties of the PLA/ZIF-8 nanocomposites were found to be dependent on the frequency and the ZIF-8 content. The prepared PLA/ZIF-8 films had good transparency even as the content of the nano ZIF-8 particles reached 3 wt %. Compared with 21.5% of pure PLA, the limited oxygen index value of the nanocomposite film containing 1 wt % ZIF-8 reached 26.0%. Therefore, it is proposed that the prepared nanocomposites can be used as the substrates and dielectric to make disposable electronics. The char residues after burning were studied in detail by scanning electron microscopy and Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopies, and the flame retardant mechanism was also discussed.

for oil/water separation. Among the utilized polymers, PLA has attracted much attention as a biodegradable and disposable material. [6][7][8][9] However, the oil wettability and mechanical properties of PLA electrospun membranes are not ideal, which limits its wide applications. [8,9] In addition, the diameter and roughness of the electrospun membranes also affect its separation effects. Incorporating fillers into polymer matrix is one of the effective and simple approaches to overcome the drawbacks mentioned above and adjust the membrane performance. Various inorganic fillers such as SiO 2 , [10,11] halloysite nanotubes, [12,13] ZnO, [14,15] and graphene [16,17] were added into the polymers to form hybrid membranes. Liu et al. [18] reported that the wettability of the poly(d,l-lactide) matrix was improved by the introduction of microcrystalline cellulose. Ji et al. [15] reported that the addition of nanoscale-ZnO (N-ZnO) at 2 wt% increased the elastic modulus of electrospun PLA mats from 5.16 to 15.59 MPa. In addition, the N-ZnO added in the mats enhanced the toughness of PLLA/ZnO mats to some extent.In this study, we have explored the possibility of fabricating high-efficient oil/water separation membranes with improved performance by incorporating metal-organic framework ZIF-8 with PLA matrix using electrospinning method. As one of the most important primary member of metal-organic frameworks, ZIF-8 is constructed by linking Zn 2+ cations and bridging 2-methylimidazolte anions to yield 3D extended tetrahedral framework structure. [19] The advantages of ZIF-8 such as highly accessible pores, great surface area, exceptional thermal and chemical stability, easy activation, coupled with remarkable chemical resistance to boiling water and alkaline aqueous solutions make it a good candidate for separation. [20,21] Besides, ZIF-8 with flexible structures has a better affinity with polymer chains since the organic linkers in MOF can provide stronger interaction with polymer chains, which may result in positive effects on the polymer performance. [22] Herein, we introduced the ZIF-8 nanoparticles into PLA matrix to fabricate the fibrous nanocomposite membranes. The surface morphology, wettability, mechanical properties, and oil/water separation ability of the composite fibers have been systematically studied.In this study, the nanoparticles of metal-organic framework ZIF-8 are incorporated into the poly(lactic acid) (PLA) to prepare the nanocomposite electrospun membrane. The diameter and the surface roughness of the fibers can be successfully controlled by increasing the content of ZIF-8 in the membranes. The prepared PLA/ZIF-8 membranes have increased oil wettability and significantly improved mechanical property compared with pure PLA membrane. Summary This work aims to develop the poly(lactic acid) (PLA) biocomposites with high flame‐retardant performance, which can be applied in electronic and electrical devices as well as automotive parts. First, an intumescent flame retardant composed of ammonium polyphosphate (APP) as the acid source and the blowing agent, and the distiller's dried grains with solubles (DDGS) as the natural charring agent was designed. The surfaces of DDGS and APP were coated by degradable polymeric flame‐retardant resorcinol di(phenyl phosphate) (RDP), and the coating effects were analyzed. And then the flame‐retardant biocomposites of PLA with RDP‐coated DDGS (C‐DDGS) and RDP‐coated APP (C‐APP) were prepared. The limited oxygen index value of the biocomposites with loading of 15 wt% C‐DDGS and 15 wt% C‐APP reached 32.0%, and UL‐94 V‐0 was attained. The biocomposites also had good mechanical properties and the tensile strength of this sample reached about 57 MPa. Finally, the char residues after burning were analyzed and the flame‐retardant mechanism was discussed.
