This paper presents the analysis and design of threestate controlled transition mode for buck-boost converter. By introducing an additional state D 2 to the transition mode, a significant efficiency improvement and output voltage ripple reduction are achieved due to the reduced average inductor current and inductor current ripple. Furthermore, the stability of the converter is enhanced according to the dynamic behavior analysis. A buck-boost converter operating in transition mode has been designed and implemented using AMS 0.35μm CMOS technology. Simulation results demonstrate that over 10% efficiency improvement can be achieved at heavy loading and the converter can be stabilized with a smaller compensation capacitor.I.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
