Thermogravimetric behavior of sodium alginate with incorporation of zeolite 4A has been studied. The experiments were performed at air flow rate of 30 ml/min, under heating rates of 5 ~ 30 K/min and up to 1250 K. Kinetic parameters for the main degradation phase thus were estimated by using the pseudo first-order assumption. The results have shown that the introduced zeolite as well as its content has obviously affected thermal properties of sodium alginate.
Three-layered zeolite LTA-filled poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) composite membranes have been fabricated for water removal from highly concentrated ethanol solution by means of pervaporation. Higher separation factor and higher fluxes are both achieved after adding zeolite 3A, 4A and 5A. Through evaluating separation factor and permeation flux, separation performances of the composite membranes are elucidated in terms of the zeolite pore size and processing temperature.
An orthogonal array design was employed for optimizing the supercritical CO2 extraction of Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae. The extraction was performed at temperature from 40 to 60oC, pressure from 15 to 35MPa, extraction time varying from 30 to 90min and particle size spanning from 20 to 80 mesh. The results reflect that the extraction yield is more significantly influenced by the extraction time, pressure and particle size but less by temperature. The experiments show that the extraction yield obviously increases with increasing pressure, different from the literatures. In terms of the sample origin, a comparison shows that outstanding differences exist among the extraction yields from different sources.
