Monitoring student knowledge states or skill acquisition levels known as knowledge tracing, is a fundamental part of intelligent tutoring systems. Despite its inherent challenges, recent deep neural networks based knowledge tracing models have achieved great success, which is largely from models' ability to learn sequential dependencies of questions in student exercise data. However, in addition to sequential information, questions inherently exhibit side relations, which can enrich our understandings about student knowledge states and has great potentials to advance knowledge tracing. Thus, in this paper, we exploit side relations to improve knowledge tracing and design a novel framework DTKS. The experimental results on real education data validate the effectiveness of the proposed framework and demonstrate the importance of side information in knowledge tracing.
Due to its payload, size and computational limits, localizing a micro air vehicle (MAV) using only its onboard sensors in an indoor environment is a challenging problem in practice. This paper introduces an indoor localization approach that relies on only the inertial measurement unit (IMU) and four ultrasonic sensors. Specifically, a novel multi-ray ultrasonic sensor model is proposed to provide a rapid and accurate approximation of the complex beam pattern of the ultrasonic sensors. A fast algorithm for calculating the Jacobian matrix of the measurement function is presented, and then an extended Kalman filter (EKF) is used to fuse the information from the ultrasonic sensors and the IMU. A test based on a MaxSonar MB1222 sensor demonstrates the accuracy of the model, and a simulation and experiment based on the T h a l e s I I MAV platform are conducted. The results indicate good localization performance and robustness against measurement noises.
Many tasks in computer vision suffer from missing values in tensor data, i.e., multi-way data array. The recently proposed tensor tubal nuclear norm (TNN) has shown superiority in imputing missing values in 3D visual data, like color images and videos. However, by interpreting in a circulant way, TNN only exploits tube (often carrying temporal/channel information) redundancy in a circulant way while preserving the row and column (often carrying spatial information) relationship. In this paper, a new tensor norm named the triple tubal nuclear norm (TriTNN) is proposed to simultaneously exploit tube, row and column redundancy in a circulant way by using a weighted sum of three TNNs. Thus, more spatial-temporal information can be mined. Further, a TriTNN-based tensor completion model with an ADMM solver is developed. Experiments on color images, videos and LiDAR datasets show the superiority of the proposed TriTNN against state-of-the-art nuclear norm-based tensor norms.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
