Operation principles of the detection of radiation direction of a CO2 pulsed laser by the use of pyroelectric camera are described. The basical analysis, computation and field test results are given, some theoretical and technical problems as well as some potential applications are discussed.
S in ica, Changchun, J I 1 in , Ch ma 130022 ABS11ACTIn this paper, a newly developed ateable SEC tube is presented. Structure, operating princ iple and performance of the tube are introduced in det,ai 1 . features and preparat ion of a new mesh-supported target are described. An experiment systeni, in which combination of selectable switch ing on and integrat ing caab i 1 ity of the new ateab1e SEC tube is used for fluorescence image detection, is given. As a new k md of low 1 ight level TV camera tube, SEC canera tubes were developed in the the earls 1960' s 2 SEC camera tubes use a low-density laser of potassjam chior ide as the target mater ial . Such targets have a h igh electron ga in (''100) . Therefore, photoelectron current from hotocathode is reatl aml ified in the SEC targets. For SEC tubes video signal can be read out directly from signal plate of SEC targets, and is then sent to V ideo preampl if ier for aml if icat ion . As a result , the structure of camera tubes is s impi ifled and adJustment of the tubes is cony ienent. Therefore , as a new low I ight level TV sensor, in the 1960's SEC tubes were widely used. Especially due to very high resistivity of the SEC targets, SEC tubes have very good image storage and integrat irig capabi 1 ity and can be operated at slow scan mode. This feature iikes SEC tubes particularly useful for space fi ight, astronomical observat ion as wel 1 as some so ient if Ic research . • Jj the later 1960's, SIT tubes were developed 8 The sons it iv ity of th is k md of tubes is at least an order of magn itude h igher than SEC tubes .Furthermore,s i 1 icon targets are easy to be mass-produced. In addition s i 1 icon targets have some other properties wh ich SEC targets don' t have , such as strong I ight burn-res istant, etc. Therefore , in the f ield of low 1 ight level TV camera al icat ions, SEC tubes were qu ickly replaced by SIT tubes. In the early 1970 ' s, CCD' s were developed and in the 1980' s as a new enerat ion of low 1 ight level TV cameras, KCD' s, combination of image intensifiers and CCD's, were marketed, applications of SEC tubes were narrowed to a very limited scope.Even though SEC tubes are replaced b SIT tube's and ICCD's in the al icat ions of LLL TV cameras, the excellent electron charge integrating and storage capability makes SEC tubes very useful in some unique al icat ions. Although image addition function can be carried out with SIT's and ICCD' s by using comb mation of electronics and microcomputer, image integration of SEC targets is performed before aml if icat ion of video signal ,so better signal-to-noise ratio of image can be obtained. Although lone time image integration capabi 1 ity could be carried out b cooled CCD' s, SEC tube's can integrate image signal for a 222 / SPIE Vol. 1982 Photoelectronic Detection and Imaging '93 0-81 94-1229-5/93/$4.0O Downloaded From: http://proceedings.spiedigitallibrary.org/ on 06/22/2016 Terms of Use: http://spiedigitallibrary.org/ss/TermsOfUse.aspx
