Le journal de Guillaume Oudin, chanoine angevin, est une œuvre rédigée sur plusieurs dizaines d'années, à la fin du XVe siècle. A l'origine projet classique de chronique, le texte devient au fil des années, de véritables Mémoires d'un Angevin. Cette mutation dans le genre littéraire d'un texte élaboré en plus de vingt ans est le corollaire d'une évolution sociale à la fin du Moyen-Age, où la noblesse de robe commence à détenir de plus en plus de pouvoirs, au détriment de la noblesse d'épée.
