PM 10 emission characterisation and control are considered critical environmental parameters for the European ceramic industry with regard to compliance with Directive 99/30/EC, as the emission of particulate matter into the atmosphere is one of the major environmental impacts of the ceramics manufacturing process. The present study sets out a methodology devised for characterising the particle size of dust emissions into the atmosphere from both fugitive sources (raw materials transport, storage, etc.) and channelled sources (stacks). Preliminary results are presented concerning the characterisation of emissions from different particulate matter arising in ceramic tile manufacturing processes.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
