Employing pyridine molecules as media, hydrophobic C 60 and C 70 molecules were transported into gold hydrosols and adsorbed on the surface of gold nanoparticles, thus resulting in high-quality surface-enhanced raman scattering (SERS) spectra with enhancement factors of 8 × 10 4 and 6 × 10 5 , respectively. Comparison of SERS spectra with normal Raman spectra of solid C 60 and C 70 indicates that these molecules absorb on gold nanoparticles by one of their pentagonal faces.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
