Due to dynamics on both external and internal business environments, new forms of career management and career progression are increasingly being adopted at the individual level to maximize career success. Employees are now more inclined to setup their own career agendas and establish benchmarks in measuring career success in a new trend as emphasized in protean career. Based on the SCCT and JCM models, the study provides a theoretical framework that examines the predictive potential of the individual, organizational and job-related factors in explaining protean career among professional employees. The study is exploratory on the grounds of literature review. Professional employees may gain insights of the importance of protean career in career development process. Practical interventions for HRD professionals are suggested to assist individuals and organisations towards protean career management. Future research could provide a more holistic view of protean career and develop additional propositions.
The purpose of this paper is to examine the factors that influence the intention of patients to adopt mobile health apps. The factors selected to conduct this study are perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and subjective norm. The proposed research model was reviewed and validated using the PLS-SEM with a sample of 300 respondents. The results of this study showed that perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and subjective norm could positively affect the patient's intention to use the mobile health app. The results of this study have made it possible to fill the research gap and provide adequate statistical support to the future expansion of research in the field of mobile health app. For practical reasons, these results have also provided researchers, app developers and healthcare providers with valuable information on how to evaluate and develop effective mobile health apps from the users' perspective.
The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship among social isolation, lack of facility provision, family commitment and work from home (WFH) job stress among academicians. Data were collected from 180 respondents who were academicians who worked from home during the period of movement control order (MCO) owing to the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. Partial least square structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) was used to analyse the data collected. The results show that all predictors, namely social isolation, lack of facilities provision and family commitment are statistically correlated to WFH job stress. The empirical findings provide additional insights in order to improve the understanding of the existing model of stress and practical implications for academicians, educational institutions/schools and the government in order to reduce/address WFH job stress effectively. In addition, the study seeks to enhance awareness and destigmatize the mental health issues of academicians due to the changes in the nature of the job, which is important to help them to maintain a healthy well-being during the pandemic crisis.
The aim of current paper is to investigate the relationships between academic performance, self-esteem, perceived social support and perceived stress among the undergraduates in both Malaysian public and private universities. Research data is gathered from a sample of 144 of undergraduates from public and private universities in Malaysia. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) is employed to examine the influences of academic performance, self-esteem, perceived social support and perceived stress among the undergraduates. The results demonstrate that self-esteem and perceived social support are viewed as potential predictors of perceived stress among undergraduates. However, there is no significant relationship between academic performance and perceived stress. Future researchers are suggested to conduct similar researches in qualitative or experimental setting in order to minimize personal bias in a longitudinal design. Current paper provides new in-depth and practical implications to all parties to pay attention in efforts to improve undergraduate’s well-being and achievement in their tertiary education stage. This paper offers new insight into the predicting factors of perceived stress among undergraduates in Malaysian context.
This study aims to examine the interaction effect of country of manufacture and brand awareness, packaging and price impact on the purchase intention of toothpaste among young adults in Malaysia. As previous studies show, the country of origin should not be taken as a single clue, as it exaggerates the country of origin effect. This study evaluates the effect of the country of origin effect on the low-involvement good (toothpaste). The Cue Utilization Theory was used to explain how the consumer uses product cues to rate a product before making a purchase decision. Study data are analysed using SmartPLS. The results of this study showed that all variables influence consumer purchase intention for toothpaste. IPMA analysis showed that the interaction effect of the country of manufacture and brand awareness are important factors.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
