Additive manufacturing is highly attractive for advanced tooling. Numerous steels are considered for realization of superior tool designs featuring complex cooling channels, however, processing by laser powder bed fusion remains challenging. A comprehensive review by Thomas Niendorf and co‐workers, article number http://doi.wiley.com/10.1002/adem.202100049, is presented providing new insights into the topic by assessing powder‐process–microstructure–property‐defect relationships. Results presented will guide researchers and application engineers.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
