This study aims to determine the students perceptions of the phenomenon of hate speech on social media in class XI IIS SMA Negeri 6 Pontianak. The research approach used was descriptive quantitative survey method. The population of this study were all students of class XI IIS SMA Negeri 6 Pontianak, totaling 143 students. The research sample was 105 students. Data collection using a questionnaire with a Likert scale. The data analysis used the percentage quantitative descriptive analysis technique. The general conclusion of the study shows that students' perceptions of hate speech are quite good. The specific conclusions of the research are that: (1) the cognitive component (knowledge) of students towards hate speech was quite good, (2) the affective component (understanding) of students towards hate speech was quite good, and (3) the conative component (assessment) of students towards speech Hate was quite good because all students disagree with hate speech on social media Facebook.Keywords: Hate Speech, Social Media, Student Perceptions.
