<p align="justify">Este artículo presenta avances de los resultados de la tesis doctoral “La calidad de vida en la ciudad de Bogotá: una evaluación mediante el empleo del Índice de Pobreza Multidimensional (IPM)”, cuyo objetivo es conocer cómo las grandes aglomeraciones favorecen o desfavorecen la calidad de vida de los seres humanos; el caso de Bogotá durante el periodo 2003-2011. Bogotá ha experimentado un significativo crecimiento poblacional y económico desde finales del siglo XX. Este auge ha permitido la mejora de la calidad de vida de sus habitantes, lo que se evidencia al analizar los resultados del IPM, luego de desagregarlos en cada una de sus dimensiones e indicadores, así como por las localidades que conforman Bogotá. A pesar de los avances, la ciudad enfrenta el reto de eliminar la segregación socioespacial que la afecta; para esto, requiere fortalecer las políticas públicas orientadas a generar equidad social.</p>
