RESUMOO objetivo do estudo consiste em descrever o perfil clínico de pacientes hospitalizados por COVID-19, admitidos em Unidade de Terapia Intensiva (UTI) através da literatura vigente. Conhecer as características clínicas dos portadores de COVID-19 submetidos à UTI é de suma importância para identificação precoce e análise dos preditores nos pacientes que comumente evoluem para o tratamento intensivo ou óbito. Traçar o perfil clínico desse grupo torna-se necessário tanto para otimizar a assistência com intervenções precoces, quanto para a construção de políticas que visem maximizar os recursos de saúde, tendo em vista a escassez do sistema em suprir a demanda entre aqueles que evoluem para a doença grave ou crítica. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa de literatura, de natureza descritiva e abordagem qualitativa. A busca e seleção dos estudos primários, ocorreu através da Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS) e os critérios de inclusão consideraram artigos completos e originais consonantes com o objetivo do estudo, publicados nos idiomas espanhol, inglês e português e disponível nas bases de dados LILACS, MEDLINE E BDENF. Foram exclusos duplicatas, manuais, livros e artigos de revisão. A busca inicial resultou em 1.420 registros, entre os quais 48 foram selecionados por título e resumo. Após leitura completa, 13 publicações foram inclusas para compor a amostra desta revisão. A população total da amostra foi composta por 15.437 participantes, entre os quais 2.710 foram admitidos em UTI. A maioria dos pacientes foram do sexo masculino e os pacientes mais velhos eram mais propensos a admissão na UTI em comparação com os mais novos. Os sintomas de apresentação mais comuns relatados foram: febre, tosse e dispneia, as complicações mais prevalentes foram aquelas associadas à síndrome respiratória aguda grave, seguida de lesão renal aguda e insuficiência respiratória. Em relação aos parâmetros laboratoriais, lactato desidrogenase, proteína C reativa e D-dímero, seguidos de anormalidades frequentes na contagem de leucócitos, linfócitos, enzimas hepáticas, marcadores de troponina T e ferritina, além de alterações signficativas nas radiografias e tomografia de tórax. RESUMOOs danos causados ao longo prazo em pacientes com COVID-19 resultaram em efeitos físicos e psicofisiológicos, tornando de extrema relevância na fase pós-aguda a ocorrência da reintegração social pós cura pela contaminação do novo coronavírus, como também para aqueles que desenvolveram o quadro leve da doença. A reabilitação é um elemento primordial para uma boa recuperação seguida da alta de doenças e diversas complicações de saúde. Até então não se sabe todos os malefícios físicos a longo prazo do novo coronavírus, no entanto, existe uma concordância acerca dos efeitos adversos decorrentes da ventilação mecânica, sendo uma delas, a síndrome pós cuidados intensivos. O presente estudo revisou artigos que abordassem a reabilitação em pacientes que foram infectados pelo COVID-19, com o objetivo de conhecer as sequelas no período pós doença. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa de literatura com abordagem qualitativa. A procura nas bases de dados se deu através do método de busca avançada e utilizando como estratégia de investigação o cruzamento entre os Descritores em Ciências da Saúde e os operadores booleano AND e OR: (coronavírus OR SARS-CoV-2 OR COVID-19) AND reabilitação. A análise dos artigos selecionados demonstrou que os pacientes pós-cura da COVID-19, que foram acometidos pela forma leve a moderada da doença, exibiram principalmente dispneia, fadiga, anosmia e hiposmia. Os artigos que abordaram os pacientes pós-tratamento intensivo para a COVID-19, demonstraram que os danos relatados após a cura são bastante diversificados, tendo em vista a abrangência multissistêmica da doença. Desse modo, cada uma das publicações trouxe considerações diferentes, embora algumas delas tenham se apresentado de modo mais frequente, não podem ser agrupadas em um padrão clínico, levando em conta que o comprometimento de um sistema pode acarretar inúmeras disfunções diferentes.
