Este trabalho investigou os benefícios gerados pelo curto-circuito controlado (CCC) do processo de soldagem Regulated Metal Deposition (RMD) em relação ao processo Pulsed Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW-P) quanto à aplicação de revestimentos anticorrosivos sobre aços de baixo-carbono. O estudo foi feito através de um comparativo entre processos, para tal, foram mantidos os valores de velocidade de arame, insumos e se trabalhou com velocidades de soldagem em faixas próximas sem comprometer a estabilidade do processo. Foram avaliados os aspectos visuais e geométricos dos depósitos através da análise macrográfica de corpos-de-prova e cálculo dos níveis de diluição impostos pelos processos, além de aspectos econômicos. Foram obtidos como resultados que o RMD apresentou um melhor acabamento de cordão, produziu uma área fundida menor com proporcional diluição sendo em torno de 8% a menos de metal base diluído, empregou menores quantidades de calor com leve inclinação para uma taxa de deposição de 7% a mais de metal depositado. Por fim, o RMD apresentou maior simplicidade operacional e menor consumo de energia.
