Esta reseña versa sobre dos libros escritos por Carlos Alberto Velasco titulados Natanael Díaz: precursor de la pedagogía del orgullo racial y otra obra de Luis Carlos Castillo titulado Natanael Díaz, un poeta en los laberintos de la política (biografía intelectual y política); ambas investigaciones buscan exaltar el pensamiento pedagógico, intelectual y político de un clásico afro del norte del Cauca. Estos textos son importantes pues reconocen el papel fundamental de un político y orador como Natanael Díaz en un contexto de racismo estructural, para la construcción del movimiento social afrocolombiano en fenómenos como el Club del Negro, el movimiento sindical afro y la inserción política de los afros entre los años 40 y 60 del siglo XX en Colombia.
Este libro aborda desde una perspectiva política, sociológica y cultural decolonial los discursos liberadores de saber y poder que las subjetividades del mundo afrodiaspórico han legado a la humanidad, en aras de su reivindicación intelectual y ciudadana frente a los prejuicios étnicos y raciales, rescatando el legado cultural y social de la afrodiáspora a la humanidad. Para ello usa un marco teórico que desarrolla categorías y cosmovisiones socio comunitarias propias, con el fin de fundamentar la construcción de sociedades más justas, equitativas y democráticas. En suma, es una narración poética que evoca el malungaje de Jerome Branche, al atlántico negro de Gilroy y al discurso antillano de Éduard Glissant.
Este ensayo tiene el objetivo de hacer dialogar la obra histórica, literaria, cultural, política y militante entre dos intelectuales afrocolombianos caribeños, que defendieron un pensamiento afrodiaspórico y cosmopolita. A través de una ruta metódica documental, el trabajo se desarrolla en tres apartados: el primero, realiza un breve repaso por la vida y obra de ambos escritores; el segundo, busca abordar el heroísmo de los próceres afros de la independencia centrada en la figura de José Prudencio Padilla, desde un enfoque narrativo e histórico; y el tercero, se focaliza en la articulación entre novela y libertad desde la concepción del realismo mítico zapataolivellano, en la intersección entre ficción y realidad.
Este ensayo presenta una mirada compleja del pensamiento intercultural de Manuel Zapata Olivella. Desde campos recorridos por él como la antropología, la filosofía y los estudios literarios, se problematizan tres puntos centrales en su obra intelectual: la filosofía muntú, la literatura política y la trietnicidad colombiana y latinoamericana, en los que fue pionero y pilar. Se abordan sus ideas recurriendo a la hermenéutica de sus trabajos más representativos, como son Changó, el gran putas, La calle 10 y El hombre colombiano, a partir de las que se desarrolla un trabajo documental desde una perspectiva antropológica, literaria y filosófica para abordar su obra desde las tres aristas que él propone. El artículo muestra que existen claves histórico-sociales para comprender la sociedad colombiana, visibles desde las conceptualizaciones africanas como muntú (el ser humano articulado a la creación). Asimismo, se ofrece una comprensión del paradigma del multiculturalismo desde la perspectiva de las tradiciones africanas en la conformación del Estado-nación en Colombia. La investigación concluye que, a pesar de su silenciamiento e invisibilización cultural, las poblaciones afrocolombianas han hecho presencia en el mundo intelectual, literario e histórico-social nacional; que el fenómeno de la identidad y de la diversidad étnica, lingüística, religiosa y musical son la clave que ha definido a Colombia; y que obras como las de Zapata Olivella fueron fundamentales para colocar a la población afrocolombiana en el plano académico y político, entendiéndola como un sujeto central en la formación del Estado-nación.
