Die bis jetzt bekannt gewordenen Erfahrungen iiber die Einwirkung von Fluor auf organische Verbindungen fiihrten xu der Vorstellung, daD diese Reaktionen so heftig ablaufen, das dabei die organische Verbindung weitgehend oder vollig zerstort wird. Die ersten, von Moissan,) ausgefiihrten Versuche hatten als hauptsiichliches Ergebnis gezeigt, da8 das Fluor die organischen Substanzen mit ungeheurer Gewalt angriff, wobei der Umsatz manchmai unter Explosion, oft unter Feuererscheinung stattfand. Die einzigen, faBbaren Reaktionsprodukte waren neben kohligen Abscheidungen Fluorwasserstoff, Kohlenstoff-tetrafluorid und andere, nicht naher untersuchte Kohlenstoff-Fluor-Verbindungen, Auf Grund seiner Versuche kam Moissan zu der flberzeugung, daE die Darstellung von Substitutions-oder Additionsprodukten durch Einwirkung von Fluor auf organische Verbindungen ,,nicht gut m6glich erscheint''.a) Diescs Problem murde 1919 von amerikanischer Seite nochmals aufgegriffen. Dabei4) ergab sich, daB die Reaktion awischen Fluor und den organischen Verbindungen durch Verdiinnen des Fluors mit einem indifferenten Gas wie CO, oder N, soweit gemiiaigt werden kann, daB eine Feuererscheinung bei diesem Umsatr nicht mehr eintritt. Jedoch wurde auch unter diesen Bedingungen aus Aceton oder Chloroform nicht das erwartete Substitutionsprodukt, sondern eine teerige, verkohlte Masse neben Fluorwasserstoff, Kohlenstoff-fluoriden bew. Verbindgn. 21 teile Tetrachloriithylen und Tetrachlorkohlenstoff fiihrtc zur Abscheidung von Kohlenstoff und Chlor; letzteres lieferte mit dem Tetrachlorathylen Hexachlorathan. Die Hauptmenge des Tetrachlorlthylens ging bei der Reaktion mit Fluor in eine nicht niiher definierbare, teerige Masse iiber. Eine fur die vorliegende Untersuchung wichtige Tatsache ist die Festellung von Humis t o n , da8 Tetrachlorkohlenstoff bei Zimmertemperatur gegeu Fluor praktisch bestindig ist und als indifferentes Losungsmittel verwendet werden kann.') Die bisher geschilderten Erfahrungen uber die Einwirkung von Fluor auf organische Verbindungen geben noch keine Antwort auf die Frage, ob dieser Reaktionsverlauf nur durch die bei diesen Reaktionen entfesselte grole Energie, oder vielleicht durch eine andere fur das Fluormolekiil typische Eigenschaft bedingt ist. Wie wir heute wissen, sind beide Grunde malgebend fur diesen Reaktionsverlauf.Aus einer Arbeit von 0. D i m r o t h und W.
