PVA/GBM/Av hydrogels were synthesized using a freeze-thaw process. It has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and cytocompatibility to NIH 3T3 fibroblasts, showing its potential for wound dressing application.
Hydrogel-based wound dressings are often chosen for healing diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) in combination with herbal extracts. Moringa oleifera leaf (MOL) extract is a potent herb containing antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory bioactive substances. In this work, wound dressings based on polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), MOL extract, and graphene oxide (GO) were developed for DFU wound dressing. The PVA/MOL/GO hydrogel was synthesized using four cycles of a freeze–thaw process with varying concentrations of MOL extract. All hydrogels showed a water content of 83–88% and an equilibrium swelling ratio between 155–171%. After degradation in phosphate-buffered saline, the hydrogels showed a more open porous structure. We observed a degradation rate of 26–28%. Although the increase in MOL extract reduced the tensile strength of the hydrogel, the addition of GO increased the tensile strength. The PVA/MOL/GO hydrogel showed the highest antibacterial activity, with a reduction of 94% Gram-positive S. aureus and 82% Gram-negative E. coli. Finally, all samples possessed appropriate cytocompatibility with cell viability reaching 83–135% in 3T3L1 mouse fibroblast cells. This result was verified by in vitro wound-healing analysis performed by scratch assay. This study presents the potency of combined PVA, MOL, and GO as a biocompatible DFU wound dressing.
Semangka (<em>Citrullus lanatus.</em>) merupakan buah yang sering dijual dan disajikan dengan cara dipotong setengah atau seperempat bagian. Pada buah semangka potong, sel dapat rusak akibat pengirisan yang menyebabkan proses pembusukan. Buah semangka potong memerlukan perlakuan penyimpanan yang sesuai agar memperlambat proses pembusukannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perbedaan variasi wadah dan suhu penyimpanan terhadap waktu pembusukan buah semangka potong. Percobaan dilakukan selama 3 hari menggunakan semangka potong disimpan pada wadah terbuka, plastik <em>wrapping</em>, dan tempat makan serta disimpan pada lemari pendingin dengan suhu 4˚C dan suhu ruangan 20˚C – 25˚C. Parameter yang diteliti adalah warna, tekstur, ukuran, dan susut bobot dari buah semangka. Hasil penilitian menunjukkan metode penyimpanan dengan wadah dan suhu yang berbeda berpengaruh terhadap waktu pembusukan buah semangka potong. Metode penyimpanan buah semangka potong yang paling baik adalah disimpan dengan wadah plastik wrapping pada suhu lemari pendingin (4℃) dengan warna buah semangka potong yang masih merah, tekstur agak lembek, presentase susut bobot paling rendah sebesar 3.3%, serta penurunan ukuran panjang 0.1 cm dan lebar 1 cm.
ABSTRAKIklan TV komersial memiliki hubungan timbal balik dengan selera konsumer. Penelitian mengenai iklan TV bermuatan kitsch, yang sering dikaitkan dengan selera rendah ini, mencoba menjawab bagaimana gambaran selera masyarakat konsumer Indonesia pada tahun 2015. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode lintas disiplin dengan pendekatan Cultural studies. Penelitian ini menguraikan gambaran selera massa konsumer Indonesia sebagai dampak dari tayangan iklan TV komersial. Dengan mengambil sampel “Iklan Biji Selasih Serbuk Panas Dalam Bintang Toedjoe”, didapati bahwa iklan tersebut mengandung unsur budaya global yang bercampur (hibrid) dengan budaya lokal dan mitos populer khas Indonesia. Hasil penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa selera masyarakat Indonesia, terutama kelas menengah bawah, sangat terkait dengan karakter manusia Indonesia yang memiliki naluri berkesenian yang tinggi, suka pamer, percaya tahayul, mudah dipengaruhi oleh budaya dari luar, dan bersifat hipokrit. Research on the kitsch-laden TV ads, which are often associated with bad taste, try to answer how is the consumer tastes of the people of Indonesia in 2015. The method used is the method of cross-disciplinary approach to Cultural studies. This study provides a picture of the mass consumer tastes Indonesia as a result of commercial TV ad impressions. By taking samples of “Biji Selasih Serbuk Panas Dalam Bintang Toedjoe” " TV ad, found that the advertisement contained elements of global culture mixed (hybrid) with the local culture and popular myths typical of Indonesia. The results of this study also showed that the tastes of Indonesian people, especially the lower middle class, strongly associated with the character of Indonesian people who have a high artistic instinct, happy to show off, but easily influenced by the culture from the outside, believe in superstitious, and is hypocritical.Keywords: Kitsch, Consumer Tastes, TV ad
