Objetivo: avaliar a taxa de cobertura vacinal contra o HPV em cada unidade da federação, por sexo, entre 2016 e 2018. Método: estudo ecológico, cuja taxa de cobertura vacinal foi calculada pela razão das doses de vacina aplicadas em cada unidade da federação pela população da mesma. Realizou-se os testes de hipótese não paramétricos Wilcoxon e Kruskal-Wallis para estabelecer a significância de semelhança na cobertura vacinal entre os sexos. Resultados: as diferenças das taxas de cobertura, no biênio 2017-2018, entre os sexos foram insignificantes. Entretanto, analisando esses anos de forma separada, demonstrou-se significância estatística entre os sexos. Conclusão: atribuiu-se a queda da taxa de cobertura vacinal no sexo feminino ao longo dos anos de campanha ao fato de não haver reforço após a segunda dose. Em contrapartida, o crescimento da taxa de cobertura referente ao sexo masculino pode ser justificado pela recente inclusão deste grupo no calendário vacinal do SUS.
