INTRODUÇÃO:A prescrição de medicamentos voltada para hematologia e de forma geral é um tema que já gerou polemica, pois, alguns profissionais da saúde, como por exemplo os farmacêuticos não compreendiam a finalidade, desses não poderem realizar a respectiva prescrição. Durante muitos anos a prescrição de medicamentos só poderia ser realizada pelo médico. Contudo, os farmacêuticos, observando a necessidade de aumentar os profissionais prescritores, começaram a lutar pela respectiva função, pois os mesmos, possuem conhecimento necessários para exercer a respectiva função, como os tipos existentes de fármacos, os efeitos dos mesmos, como: princípio ativo, dosagens, compatibilidade de medicamentos, efeitos coletareis, entre outros. OBJETIVO: Apresentar um estudo bibliográfico sobre as principais informações que os profissionais farmacêuticos necessitam para desenvolver a nova função de "prescritores farmacêuticos". METODOLOGIA: A mesma foi desenvolvida por meio de uma metodologia referente ao levantamento bibliográfico, realizada em vários, documentos e demais periódicos, como: resoluções as resoluções: n° 586/2013, que regulamenta a prescrição farmacêutica, a resolução n° 138/2003 que apresenta informações sobre os tipos de medicamentos que podem ser prescritos pelos farmacêuticos. RESULTADOS: A pesquisa apresenta um suporte teórico, sobre alguns pontos importantes durante a prescrição, como: dose, frequência de administração, duração do tratamento, contraindicações, interações com outros medicamentos; aspectos legais, sociais, econômicos e os tipos de medicamentos que o respectivo profissional poderá indicar. CONCLUSÃO: Por meio do desenvolvimento da pesquisa, observamos que a sociedade será beneficiada com a nova função do farmacêutico, pois através da mesma, podemos auxiliar na diminuição e possivelmente na erradicação de um problema mundial que é a automedicação.
