Este trabalho se dedica a fazer uma revisão integrativa da literatura em dissertações e teses que abordem as ideias de Émile Benveniste e identificar a quais programas de pós-graduação no Brasil elas são vinculadas. Com o objetivo de investigar a incidência com que as obras do autor serviram de fundamentação para as análises desenvolvidas por pesquisadores brasileiros e os diálogos estabelecidos para dar suporte aos estudos dos objetos de pesquisa. Para isso, utilizou-se dois bancos de dados: Catálogo de Teses e Dissertações da Capes e a Biblioteca Digital Brasileira de Teses e Dissertações.
A história das políticas linguísticas de uma língua e de seu ensino pode ser observada pelas leis que as regiam, pelos materiais didáticos que circulavam e que direcionavam o ensino de certo momento, bem como por meio de conferências, discursos e documentos que apresentavam e/ou reivindicavam ações necessárias à constituição de uma política do idioma. Neste sentido, este trabalho busca analisar a proposta de política do idioma apresentada por Celso Cunha, em conferência no Ministério da Educação e Cultura, em 1963. Reproduzida, posteriormente, no livro Uma política do idioma (1964) e, segundo o autor, acrescida de notas e fundamentos linguísticos e filológicos. Trata-se de obra relevante para a compreensão da proposta de Cunha para a Educação Nacional e, portanto, documento importante para a compreensão do contexto político-linguístico-educacional, em que o discurso é proferido, bem como quais são as concepções de língua e de política do idioma que estão imanentes. Para estabelecer essas relações é necessário buscar fundamentos nos conceitos de Koerner (1996). Ainda por se tratar de ato de comunicação em uma cena política, buscamos, sob o olhar do discurso político (CHARAUDEAU, 2006), observar as estratégias de influência para a constituição do discurso político-linguístico de Celso Cunha.
