The complex Fc(CHdCH) 2 CtC-TMS (Fc ) ferrocenyl) was obtained from Wittig olefination of FcCH 2 PPh 3 Br with TMS-CtCCHdCHCHO in THF. The conjugated monometallic diene can be desilylated to give Fc(CHdCH) 2 CtCH, which reacted with RuHCl(CO)(PPh 3 ) 3 to produce Fc(CHdCH) 3 RuCl(CO)(PPh 3 ) 2 . Treatment of the latter complex with PMe 3 , 4-phenylpyridine (PhPy), 2,6-(Ph 2 PCH 2 ) 2 C 5 H 3 N (PMP), and KTp (Tp ) hydridotris(pyrazolyl)borate) gave Fc(CHdCH) 3 RuCl(CO)(PMe 3 ) 3 , Fc(CHdCH) 3 RuCl(CO)(PhPy)(PPh 3 ) 2 , Fc(CHd CH) 3 RuCl(CO)(PMP), and Fc(CHdCH) 3 RuTp(CO)(PPh 3 ), respectively.
