This research aimed to describe how the students’ perception of asynchronous in English learning during covid-19 pandemic in English study program in Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu. This study used quantitative descriptive research. The subject of the research was the students who followed the Subject of Speaking for Debate of English Education Program of Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu. The instrument of this research was using the questionnaire. The result shows that the students’ perception of asynchronous learning helped the researchers to develop understanding to present the data to support the problem solving learning activities. During the covid-19 pandemic, asynchronous learning is not effective to be used because the teaching method, media and learning activities were consider inefficient. There are many problems when the conducting the online learning process. In asynchronous learning system, the experiences were a lot of constraints such as the teacher should be able to teach by the distances that must be used the technology. The teacher also must be ready to design learning models and teaching materials and the media. In the other hand, it is hoped that asynchronous learning can be applied in this pandemic era. Keywords: Students’ Perception, Asynchronous Learning, Pandemic Era.
This descriptive research was aimed to describe how the Character Education implemented by English teachers at SMAN 3 Bengkulu Utara and to find out how the teacher solve the problems during the implementation. The subjects of the research were three English teachers who teach EFL classroom at SMAN 3 Bengkulu Utara. The researcher used observation checklist to obtain the data. There were two findings of this research; (1) There were five aspects of character education implemented by English teachers in teaching English at SMAN 3 Bengkulu Utara namely; religious, nationalism, integrity, independent, and mutual cooperation. However, there were two aspects which were not implemented by all teacher, they were religious and mutual cooperation with percentage less than one hundred percent. (2) There were three ways to solve the problems during the implementation; trying to implement the character education in many chances not only in the classroom but also out of the class, asking the students’ parents to participate in the implementation of character education while the students at home, and asking the students to always become a good person wherever they go and keep in mind that “something good brings goodness”. Final year students are prone to stress, especially academic stress in thesis writing. This study aimed to find out the academic stress scale of final year English students at the Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu (UMB) English Language Education Study Program in writing a thesis during the Covid-19 pandemic and to determine the most dominant academic stress scale among final year students at the English Language Education Study Program UMB in writing a thesis during the Covid-19 pandemic. In this study, researchers used descriptive quantitative research method to obtain data. The subjects of this study were even semester English students at UMB who were working on their thesis. The sample of this research was 57 students of the UMB English Education Study Program who were doing their thesis writing and guidance. The instruments used in this study were a Google form questionnaire and an interview guide. Questionnaire was used to obtain data about students' academic stress levels. There are two findings from this study, namely: (1) there are three academic stress scales for final year English students writing their thesis during a pandemic at UMB, namely; low stress scale (9.21%), moderate stress scale (32.46%), and high stress scale (58.33%); and (2) The most dominant academic stress scale for final year English students in writing their thesis during the Covid-19 pandemic was a high stress level. For final year students, they can reduce stress levels to avoid adverse effects on their mental and physical health such as asking for help from close friends or family to always support them during thesis writing. Keywords: academic stress scale; writing thesis; final year english studentsAbstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui skala stres akademik mahasiswa tingkat akhir Bahasa Inggris di Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris UMB dalam menulis skripsi di masa pandemi Covid-19 dan untuk mengetahui skala stres akademik yang paling dominan di kalangan mahasiswa tingkat akhir di Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris. Prodi Pendidikan UMB dalam penulisan skripsi di masa pandemi Covid-19. Peneliti menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif untuk memperoleh data. Subyek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa bahasa Inggris semester genap Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu yang sedang mengerjakan skripsi. Sampel penelitian ini adalah 57 mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris UMB yang sedang mengerjakan skripsi dan bimbingan. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuesioner Google form dan pedoman wawancara. Kuesioner digunakan untuk memperoleh data tentang tingkat stres akademik siswa. Ada dua temuan dari penelitian ini, yaitu: (1) ada tiga skala stres akademik untuk mahasiswa bahasa Inggris tingkat akhir yang menulis tesis mereka selama pandemi di UMB, yaitu; skala stres rendah (9,21%), skala stres sedang (32,46%), dan skala stres tinggi (58,33%); dan (2) Skala stres akademik mahasiswa tingkat akhir bahasa Inggris yang paling dominan dalam menulis skripsi selama pandemi Covid-19 adalah tingkat stres yang tinggi. Bagi mahasiswa tingkat akhir dapat mengurangi tingkat stres untuk menghindari dampak buruk bagi kesehatan mental dan fisik mereka seperti meminta bantuan teman dekat atau keluarga untuk selalu mendukung mereka selama penulisan skripsi.Kata Kunci: skala stres akademik; menulis tesis; siswa bahasa inggris tahun terakhir
Abdi Masyarakat merupakan wadah untuk dapat mengembangkan dan menyumbangkan pengetahuan secara langsung kepada masyarakat. Pembukaan lahan dan semakin banyaknya pembangunan membuat keadaan tanah menjadi kering dan gersang serta terjadi kurangnya daerah resapan air yang akan berdampak pada kekeringan dan kebanjiran yang hebat. Wilayah lokasi pengabdian masyarakat ini di kelurahan Betungan merupakan area perumahan yang luas yang dulunya adalah hutan rimbun dan sekarang terjadi pembukaan lahan secara besar-besaran yang menyebabkan kebanjiran ketika hujan deras karena sudah berkurangnya daerah resapan air. Kegiatan abdi masyarakat dengan melakukan program penghijauan yang dilakukan melalui Gerakan menanam pohon di area lahan kosong dan gersang dengan melibatkan masyarakat serta warga intra Sekolah merupakan upaya strategis dalam mengurangi kekeringan dan panasnya bumi. Kegiatan ini dilakukan di 3 Lokasi berbeda yang di pusatkan di daerah Kelurahan Betungan. Metode pengabdian yang di gunakan dalam bentuk penyuluhan penanaman pohon dan pendampingan selama penanaman dan pemeriharaan. Kegiatan penanaman pohon ini mendapat respon baik dari setiap masyarakat serta warga sekolah sehingga tidak hanya dapat mengeratkan silahturahmi antara satu dengan yang lain namun dampak positif terbesar yaitu menciptakan kepedulian masyarakat terhadap lingkungan bumi kita sendiri. The objective of the research was to find out the personal problem encountered by English Students in graduation on Time at Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu. The design of this research was descriptive method. The instrument of the research was questionnaire. The questionnaire was based on based on Dieters (2013) about factors of the Personal Problem Encountered by English Students In Graduation on Time. The result showed that from six factors of the students problem to graduate on time, they are: Students Experience, Program Choice, Social Environment, Demands of the Program, Financial Consideration, Instutional Factors there are three factors that affect the students problem to graduate on time, they are, demands of the program, program choice and students experience. From the result, the researcher will give suggestion for the students: It is suggested the students have to have high motivation to finish their study and graduation on time because when the students have high motivation it can make them be active to learn. The students also have to try be brave to communicate and ask something about material or thesis with their lecturer. Key words: Graduation, Students Problem to Graduate on time
