Public sector managers and researchers have emphasized the importance of performance measurement. Nevertheless, few theoretical and empirical studies are found in Brazilian Judiciary Courts' literature. In order to empirically identify which variables (IT investments, own or outsourced human capital) are more relevant for improving productivity, the current research proposes a model using secondary data extracted from the Justiça em Números (Justice in Numbers) report, using structural equation modeling for the analysis. The results suggest that: (a) all variables are relevant for improving productivity in Brazilian Courts, confirming our first three theoretical hypotheses; and (b) own human capital has a greater impact on productivity than outsourced, confirming the fourth. For those who are responsible for reforms, this finding indicates that IT is not the most important investment. However a question remains: Seen as a cure for almost all problems in the public sector, is it possible to improve performance without hard IT investments? For future research there are some additional questions: Why is own human capital more relevant than outsourced? Which variables should be included in the model for improving the general significance? The answers can help improve Brazilian court productivity.
Understanding that disruptions can be devastating, the ability of supply chains to return, as quickly as possible, to their normal state, after disruptions, has been considered as important as optimizing their flows. According to the literature, companies must develop capabilities and invest in risk management to improve their supply chain resilience, however almost nothing has been investigated about the role of the analytical orientation for those purposes. Assuming that analytical orientation is essential for supply chains to recover from interruptions, this theoretical essay aimed at proposing its inclusion in an initial supply chain resilience model, based on literature review. As a contribution, this paper aims at presenting a model that will enlarge the discussion about this theme, which can be empirically tested in a future research.
Risk management has emerged as a field of operations management research due to the greater exposure of organizations to internal and external risks, as a result of globalization, outsourcing, reduction in the number of suppliers, and the need to improve cost and inventory management. Although this subject has received attention in recent years, the relationship between analytical orientation and supply chain risk management is little explored. Thus, this research verifies the impact of analytical orientation over supply chain risk management. A questionnaire was applied with micro, small and medium-sized firms of Brazilian Southeast region, obtaining 111 responses. The structural equation modeling was used for analysis and the main conclusions indicate that analytical orientation has a strong and significant impact over supply chain risk management. In this sense, those supply chains that are more analytical manage their risks better, resulting in lower perception of uncertainty.
ResumoAs pesquisas que discutem a temática inovação e desempenho organizacional estão em evidência, pelo interesse das empresas, governos e instituições de pesquisa, fomentarem o desenvolvimento científico e tecnológico gerando resultados para a sociedade. Entretanto, pouco se sabe sobre a inovação e seu impacto sobre o desempenho organizacional. Dessa forma esse trabalho visa identificar os assuntos discutidos sobre essa temática, analisando as publicações da base Web of Knowledge que agrupa os principais periódicos internacionais sobre o tema. Esse trabalho identificou os assuntos que receberam mais atenção por parte dos pesquisadores e foi organizado em forma de uma pesquisa bibliométrica com base em 488 artigos selecionados. Com a utilização do software Alceste, dois eixos temáticos foram identificados, um com foco nos aspectos metodológicos dos indicadores de inovação e outro centrado nos aspectos humanos, sociais, econômicos e estratégicos da inovação e do desempenho organizacional. Abstract The researches that discuss innovation and organizational performance are in evidence, as companies, governments and research institutions are interested in fostering scientific and technological development, thus generating results for society. However, little is known about innovation and its impact on organizational performance. Thus this paper aims to identify the subjects discussed on this topic, analyzing the publications in the Web of Knowledge database, which groups the main international journals related to innovation. This work identifies subjects that received the most attention from researchers and was organized as a bibliometric research based on 488 selected articles. Using the Alceste software, two thematic groups were identified, one focusing on methodological aspects of innovation indicators, and the other focusing on human, social, economic and strategic aspects of innovation and organizational performance.
A gestão de riscos tem emergido como campo de pesquisa promissor em gestão de operações, pela maior exposição das organizações aos riscos internos e externos. Este artigo, de caráter teórico, tem por objetivo discutir e propor um modelo conceitual embasado na convergência entre gestão de riscos relacionais, confiança e custos de transação (pressupostos comportamentais – oportunismo e racionalidade limitada), no âmbito da gestão de relacionamentos em díades (comprador-fornecedor). Após a articulação dos conceitos e teorias, propõe-se um modelo conceitual com oito hipóteses a serem testadas em estudos futuros. Como contribuições são sugeridas oportunidades de pesquisa no campo de gestão de riscos, sobretudo em díades, que podem ser ampliadas e testadas em relações como redes interorganizacionais e em cadeias de suprimentos.
Este trabalho tem por finalidade discutir e apresentar as potencialidades que os ambientes virtuais proporcionam ao ensino presencial seja como ferramenta de apoio, seja como recurso de controle, interação e gerenciamento das atividades avaliativas. Esses recursos se tornam, a cada dia, mais eficazes devido à exigência de qualidade ditada pela ampliação dos cursos de ensino a distância. No entanto, os benefícios podem ser explorados também no ensino presencial com excelentes resultados, conforme pode ser observado no caso de estudo realizado no ensino médio integrado. Os estudantes têm um novo espaço para tirar dúvidas, participar de discussões e construir, seu próprio conhecimento, com o professor acompanhando a construção coletiva, norteando e envolvendo a turma.
O estudo objetiva averiguar o impacto da gestão de riscos relacionais (GRR) no engajamento colaborativo (EC) com parceiros de negócio e testar a confiança (CONF) como mediadora desta relação. Utilizou-se survey, com questionário eletrônico, aplicado a gestores de empresas. Analisaram-se os dados utilizando-se Modelagem de Equações Estruturais, operacionalizada através do software SmartPLS 3.2.6. Os resultados obtidos apontam que todos os itens do modelo de mensuração apresentaram cargas fatoriais superiores a 0,72 e que os intervalos de confiança (I.C.- 95%) foram significativos, confirmando o modelo proposto com indicadores que representam os construtos. Os achados evidenciaram relação positiva e significativa da GRR e da CONF com o EC. Como contribuição, demonstra-se que o gerenciamento de riscos e a confiança são aspectos relevantes para que os parceiros se engajem colaborativamente, reforçando a necessidade de gerenciar os riscos para maximizar benefícios gerados com o relacionamento.
Objective: it discusses the judiciary´s performance antecedents in Brazil. It based its model on the work of Dimitrova-Grajzl, Grajzl, Sustersic, and Zajc (2012) about the Slovenian courts.Design: performance, human capital, expenditures, investment in new technologies, and caseload is measured using OLS, PLS-SEM, IPMA, and quadratic regression using CNJ data.Findings: The quantitative results show workforce profiles in details, the linear relationship, and the moderating effect of workload as not significant, while its quadratic effect enriches the discussion about productivity.Originality: the results and the methodological path and data caveats are opportunities for future works to explain the ambiguities when performance is compared using Dimitrova-Grajzl´s and present work models.
