SummaryAs the number of cases keep increasing, tuberculosis reflects the Public Health care in developing countries. Not considering tuberculosis as a possible diagnosis in a patient with respiration symptoms compromises the occupational risk, underestimates the biological risk and places biosafety on a secondary level, delaying the necessary tuberculosis control actions. In this context, the author comments on the multiples aspects of biosafety in tuberculosis, including standardization of occupational risks, mainly the biological one; the importance of administrative, environment control and respiratory protection measures; the Biosafety Commission and its role in the institution, standardizing obtainment and handling of samples, and bacteriological examination.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
