Ao final do ano de 2019, o novo coronavírus, agente etiológico da COVID-19, se tornou conhecido pela rápida propagação da infecção entre as pessoas. E em março de 2020, a OMS, Organização Mundial de Saúde, decretou estado de Pandemia devido à disseminação descontrolada do vírus pelo mundo (MARTINS & ALMEIDA, 2020; OPAS, 2020b). Por conta disso, medidas restritivas foram adotadas pelos países, através do distanciamento social, suspensão das atividades escolares e acadêmicas presenciais, “lockdown”, entre outros (VERDE et al. 2020). Com a suspensão das aulas, foi necessário encontrar ferramentas que pudessem possibilitar a sua continuidade.
O Banco de Dentes Humanos (BDH) foi criado nos anos 2000, com o intuito de suprir as necessidades acadêmicas e minimizar o comércio ilegal de elementos dentários. Envolve diversas atividades tais como, recepção, preparação, desinfecção, manipulação, seleção, preservação, catalogação, estocagem, cessão, empréstimo, administração dos dentes doados e Educação para a Ética (Pereira, 2014).
