Since GMPLS[6] is likely to be the technology o f choice in the future 18-based transport network, it is necessary that MPLS be able to provide protection and restoration oftraffic. There are Ifl. I:I. I:N, M:N path protection mechanisms for restoring paths on MPLS networks. But since these methods have low rcsourcc utilization for sening up the backup paths. several methods have been proposed for protection with mash-based optical networks using shared backup path and capacily. But when the fault occurs in the networks, backup path activation time is one o f key issues in the optical area, too. Although there are several works in the research for survivability in optical networks, most of them seem to neglect delay time to be consumed for backup path activation. In this present paper, we propose a new backup path provisioning scheme taking resou~cc utilization as well as delay time into account. And then we compare with existing proposed schemes in terms o f improvement o f resource utilization.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
