Propomos neste trabalho uma atividade interdisciplinar de aprendizagem combinando procedimentos de ensino investigativo, técnicas de medição e aplicação do método científico baseados na situação problema de como medir a altura das crateras da Lua utilizando suas sombras. Tomando a Astronomia como elemento motivador, introduzimos um procedimento por meio do software profissional DS9 e bases de imageamento como a do Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter e o Moon Atlas 3D para realizar a medida das sombras das crateras lunares. Apresentamos um modelo trigonométrico simplificado para representar os efeitos de projeção dos raios solares sobre a superfície lunar e o aplicamos para as crateras Triesnecker, Arzachel e Autolycus. Com isso obtivemos estimativas para as alturas das crateras com erros percentuais inferiores a 25% dos valores reais, e envolvendo diversos conceitos interdisciplinares relacionando a Matemática, Geografia, Física e Astronomia.
