Bildmanipulation, Bildfälschung und Bildethik im Zeitalter der digitalen Fotografie Kein Bild ist authentisch, kein Foto objektiv. Jürgen Reiche (1998, S. 14) "Jemand lügt wie gedruckt", sagt der Volksmund. Beim Medienpublikum gibt es gegenüber dem gedruckten Wort nach wie vor ein beträchtliches Misstrauen. In Sachen Glaubwürdigkeit liegt bei einschlägigen empirischen Erhebungen das Femsehen regelmäßig vor der Tageszeitung, dem Hörfunk und (erst recht) dem Internet. "Ein Büd sagt mehr als tausend Worte" weiß -wiederum -der Volksmund. Und: "Büder lügen nicht." Ist dieses Vertrauen gerechtfertigt? Der folgende Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit den Möghchkeiten und Methoden der Büdfälschung und Büdmanipulation. Er geht insbesondere der Frage nach, ob und wie sich diese im Zeitalter der digitalen Fotografie geändert haben und diskutiert die Konsequenzen unter Aspekten der Medien-und Kommunikationsethüf. Die Fotografen richten ihre Kameras auch auf die damalige Kanzlerkandidatin Angela Merkel, die zusammen mit ihrem Ehemann den Weg über den roten Teppich nimmt. Die Kandidatin lächelt freundlich, hebt ihren Arm, winkt dem Publikum zu -und entblößt einen kleinen, aber deuthch erkennbaren Schweißfleck, der sich im Stoff des lachsfarbenen Blazers unter ihrer Achsel breit macht. Dieses Foto wurde von zahlreichen Medien veröffentlicht, auf der Website des Bayerischen Rundfunks hingegen war Merkel ohne dieses "Malheur" abgebüdet (Abb. 1 und 2). "Spiegel Online" äußerte dann erstmals den Verdacht, dieses Foto sei eine Fälschung und die Redaktion hätte den Schweißfleck per digitaler Bildbearbeitung entfernt. Nach anfänghchem Dementi des
