The findings of this study can inform policy makers and draw their attention to overcome the challenges faced by nursing management. This will ultimately improve satisfaction leading to improved patient and organisational outcome. The national policy and strategy should address areas that could enable nurses to maintain a balance between household and professional responsibilities; and also encourage the enrolment of female nurses in the profession.
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the health system of the two neighboring countries i.e. Pakistan and Afghanistan; and recommend strategies to translate the available opportunities into effective actions within the countries. Therefore, the WHO, Health System Framework is used to analyze the Pakistan and Afghanistan health system in terms of; 1) leadership and governance 2) health financing 3) health workforce 4) medical products and technologies 5) information and research and 6) service delivery. Both the countries are having multiple strengths and opportunities in terms of healthcare delivery system. On the other hand, both the countries are affected by multiple challenges including; un-met Millennium Development Goals and un-met national health indicators. Thus, appropriate strategies are required to be developed and executed in order to meet the national need for health.
AimTo explore the educational profile of nursing managers and head nurses at public hospitals in Kabul, Afghanistan.DesignA descriptive cross‐sectional study design was employed.MethodA self‐administered pre‐tested questionnaire was used to recruit 86 nursing managers and head nurses from 17 public hospitals in Kabul. SPSS version 19 was used to analyze and report the data through descriptive statistics.ResultsIt was found that, none of the participant was prepared with higher education in nursing; rather they had only diploma in nursing; and 84.9% of them had completed their nursing diploma before 2002.; 11.6% of participants were currently studying; and all were in non‐nursing disciplines. On the other hand 100% of the participants expressed intention for further studies mainly in leadership and management, computer skill, English language, in‐service nursing trainings and higher education in nursing.
One of the important responsibilities of the health care system is to meet the health needs of the population mainly through health promotion and disease prevention initiatives. This objective can be achieved through an equitable resource distribution/allocation. This paper comprises of comparative analysis of health care system of two countries i.e., Pakistan and Japan in relation to the WHO recommended guidelines on Health care system. The analysis consists of organizational environment, health care delivery model, health information management system, health indicators, financing, and workforce of both the countries. This analysis suggests some strategies to overcome the shortcomings for both the countries.
