São Paulo, 2011 jul-set;12(3):261-4 RESUMO JUSTIFICATIVA E OBJETIVOS: A dor de crescimento é entidade clínica que é responsável por 15% das dores nas crianças em fase de crescimento, de etiologia desconhecida, de diagnóstico de exclusão, que leva à dor nos membros inferiores, extra-articular, com predomínio noturno e pode limitar as atividades físicas da criança e levar a ansiedade dos familiares. O objetivo deste estudo foi revisar os principais pontos de divergência como etiologia, diagnóstico e tratamento. CONTEÚDO: A dor do crescimento, mesmo descrita em 1823, continua com etiologia desconhecida e embora seja entidade clínica benigna, gera preocupação para os pais e dificuldade na conduta em consultórios pediátricos. CONCLUSÃO: Apesar de apresentar cura espontâ-nea, é importante o seu tratamento, uma vez que pode ocorrer a cronificação da dor na vida adulta. Descritores: Dor, Crescimento, Criança.
