Às 12 horas, 28 minutos e 25 segundos do dia 25 de janeiro de 2019, a Barragem 1, localizada na mina Córrego do Feijão, da mineradora Vale, em Brumadinho (MG), se rompeu. A tragédia ocorreu no horário em que é apresentado o telejornal MG1, da Globo Minas. Por meio da Análise da Materialidade Audiovisual (COUTINHO, 2016; 2020), verificamos como o MG1 cobriu os três primeiros aniversários do rompimento da barragem, no que diz respeito à memória, às fontes consultadas, ao discurso de emoção e se houve a discussão de problemas públicos relacionados ao acontecimento. Os resultados indicam que as entradas ao vivo mencionaram homenagens às vítimas, como a chamada dos ausentes, o toque do silêncio e o lançamento de balões; familiares de vítima desaparecida e de vítima localizada e um bombeiro foram entrevistados; e os discursos transmitiram sentimentos de horror, pesar, compaixão, raiva e agradecimento. Além disso, o único momento em que os vídeos registraram aspectos relacionados a problemas públicos foi em 2022, quando uma repórter citou ações preventivas da Vale em outras de suas barragens. Pesquisas futuras podem investigar como o jornalismo tem tratado os problemas públicos relacionados a barragens, a emoção de jornalistas e o discurso de renovação da Vale no processo de reparação.
Em junho de 2021, a cantora Anitta foi anunciada como nova membro do conselho de administração da Nubank. Após o anúncio, usuários contrários à contratação criaram a #cubank, provocando um ciberacontecimento, amplificado pela crítica da artista ao governo Jair Bolsonaro. A empresa cancelou uma coletiva e clientes solicitaram os cancelamentos de cartões e contas. Mensagens com a hashtag foram coletadas no Twitter utilizando-se o Netlytic. Cinco perfis publicaram mais de 60% das mensagens coletadas; os tweets mais compartilhados eram críticas aos que desaprovaram a parceria; menos de 25% dos tweets mencionaram boicote e/ou cancelamento; e o perfil do Nubank não interagiu com a hashtag. Pesquisas futuras podem explorar o gerenciamento de crises quando marcas buscam o endosso de celebridades.
