In der modernen Röntgendiagnostik kann die Strahienexposition des Patientén durchweg so niedrig gehalten werden, daß mit somatischen Schäden im allgemeinen nicht mehr zu rechnen ist. Eine Ausnahme macht jedoch die menschliche Frucht wegen ihrer besonders hohen Strahlenempfindlichkeit im Hinblick auf Teratogenese und Karzinogenese. Der Röntgenologe, verantwortlich fiar Strahlenschäden und -schutz seiner Patienten, hat es bei der möglichen radiogenen Fruchtgefährdung mit zwei praktisch wichtigen Situationen zu tun: 1. Unterbauchuntersuchungen von Frauen bei noch nicht bekannter Frühsdiwangerschaft mit unbeabsichtigter Fruchtexposition und 2. bewußt in Kauf genommene Strahlenbelastung von Embryo oder Fet durch Röntgenuntersuchungen der mütterlichen Bauch-und Beckenorgane bei bekannter Gravidität. Zur Veranschaulichung sollen zwei eigene Beobachtungen mitgeteilt werden.
