The over-all n e t effect of t h e errors examined in t h e preceding paragraphs i s believed to b e small and on t h e conservative side.
CONCLUSIONST h e primary purpose of t h e present investigation, the definition of s a f e operating conditions for t h e air oxidation of curnene, was realized. By t h e u s e of the apparatus described, it was possible t o find the explosive limits of various cumene-air and cumeme-air-water mixtures at elevated pressures. An increase in pressure caused a widening of t h e upper limits for both systems studied. Water caused a decrease in t h e upper explosive limit.T h e data accumulated a r e of fundamental interest in t h e field of hydrocarbon flammability.
