The optical spectra of crS+ in single crystals of ScCl, and InCl, have been investigated between 7000 and about 31000 cm-l. The observed crystal field splittings are explained in first approximation by a crystal potential of cubic symmetry. Further details in splitting of the quartet levels of W + and of the triplet levels of Vs+ can be interpreted in both cases by a crystal potential of 3m(Csv) symmetry. The employed host lattices are of special interest, because the rare-earth ions can occupy t,he same sites as the transition-metal ions.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
