Zusammenfassung Nach einem Überblick über die bei Mensch und Tier bekannten Symptome der Allgemeinreaktion nach Röntgenstrahleneinwirkung werden die initialen Frühsymptome nach Bestrahlung der Thoraxwand bei Pferd und Rind geschildert. Die klinisch und am Blutbild auftretenden Reaktionen werden beschrieben. Sie liegen meist noch in den physiologischen Grenzen. Beim Pferd treten am Bestrahlungstage Erhöhungen der Temperatur, der Pulsfrequenz und der Atmung auf. Die Atmung kann manchmal auch schmerzhaft vertieft und zahlenmäßig verringert sein. Die Atmung bildet die sicherste Kontrollmöglichkeit der Strahlenwirkung. In der Regel beschränken sich die symptomatischen Veränderungen auf die ersten 8 Stunden und sind in der zweiten, dritten und siebenten Stunde am besten festzustellen. Es fiel auf, daß die Veränderungen beim Pferd wenig abhängig von der Dosierung waren. Nach Lungendurchleuchtungen von durchschnittlich 4 Minuten Dauer, die an 15 Tagen innerhalb eines Monats vorgenommen wurden, traten jedoch Nachwirkungen in Gestalt von Erhöhungen der Mastdarmtemperatur, des Pulses und der Atmung für etwa 30 Tage auf. Beim Rind ist die Strahlenwirkung an der Atmung in den ersten 5 Stunden nach der Bestrahlung ebenfalls am besten zu erkennen. Am nächsten Tage stellt sich oft seröser Nasenausfluß ein. Die Mastdarmtemperatur steigt in der Regel schon in der ersten Stunde um 1/2–1 Grad C an. Dazu im Gegensatz steht die geringe Beeinflussung der Pulsfrequenz. Saugkälber bis zum Alter von 6 Wochen zeigen in den ersten Stunden Röcheln, Hinfälligkeit, Appetitlosigkeit und am nächsten Tage serösen Nasenausfluß und kurzen Husten. Das Blutbild des Pferdes zeigt in der ersten Stunde bisweilen einen Abfall der Leukozyten und der Lymphozyten bis auf etwa 90% für 3 Stunden. Sodann erfolgt bei Erstdurchleuchtungen in der Regel ein Anstieg der Leukozyten in der 3.–4. oder 5.–6. Stunde, während die Zahl der Lymphozyten verhältnismäßig konstant bleibt. Nach längeren Durchleuchtungsserien können jedoch Lymphopenieen auftreten. Der Thrombozytensturz geht in der dritten Stunde manchmal unter die Norm. Beim Rind tritt der Abfall der Leukozyten und Lymphozyten bereits in der ersten bis zweiten Stunde auf. Bisweilen ist er von einem Thrombozytensturz begleitet. Eindeutiger ist bei dieser Tierart der allmähliche, stetige Abfall der Lymphozyten bis etwa zur 7. Stunde. In der achten Stunde nach der Bestrahlung sind meist keine Reaktionen von Seiten des Blutbildes mehr erkennbar. Die klinischen Erscheinungen waren bei Pferd und Rind als Bestrahlungsfolge besser nachweisbar als die von Seiten des Blutbildes, welche unregelmäßigger verlaufen und eindeutige Schlüsse erst durch mehrstündige Untersuchungen erkennen lassen.
