Most of the research work for enforcing security policies on smartphones considered coarse-grained policies, e.g. either to allow an application to run or not. In this paper we present CRePE, the first system that is able to enforce fine-grained policies, e.g. that vary while an application is running, that also depend on the context of the smart- phone. A context can be defined by the status of some variables (e.g. location, time, temperature, noise, and light), the presence of other de- vices, a particular interaction between the user and the smartphone, or a combination of these. CRePE allows context-related policies to be de- fined either by the user or by trusted third parties. Depending on the authorization, third parties can set a policy on a smartphone at any mo- ment or just when the phone is within a particular context, e.g. within a building, or a plane
BackgroundHuman epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) is related to the pathogenesis and poor outcome of numerous types of carcinomas, including gastric carcinoma. Gastric cancer patients with HER2 positivity have become potential candidates for targeted therapy with trastuzumab.MethodsWe investigated 208 gastric cancer specimens using immunohistochemistry (IHC), fluorescence in situ hybridization and dual in situ hybridization (ISH). We also investigated the concordance between IHC and ISH. The correlation between HER2 status and various clinicopathological findings was also investigated. ResultsIn total, 15.9% (33/208) and 24.5% (51/208) of gastric cancers showed HER2 gene amplification and protein overexpression, respectively. A high level of concordance between ISH and IHC analyses (91.3%, κ = 0.76) was found. A significant correlation between HER2 status and intestinal-type (p < .05) and differentiated carcinomas (p < .05) was also noted. The HER2 heterogeneity was high in gastric cancers; we found 68.8% phenotypic heterogeneity and 57.6% genotypic heterogeneity. Heterogeneity in HER2 protein expression and gene amplification showed a close association with diffuse histologic type and IHC 2+. ConclusionsHER2 protein overexpression and gene amplification were detected in 24.5% and 15.9% of gastric cancer specimens, respectively. Intestinal-type showed a higher level of HER2 protein overexpression and gene amplification than diffuse type. HER2 status also showed a significant relationship with well- and moderately-differentiated carcinomas. The ratio of phenotypic and genotypic heterogeneity of HER2 was high in gastric carcinomas and was associated with HER2 IHC 2+ and diffuse histologic type.
Dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) is a means to adjust the computing capacity and power consumption of computing systems to the application demands. DVFS is generally useful to provide a compromise between computing demands and power consumption, especially in the areas of resource-constrained computing systems. Many modern processors support some form of DVFS. In this article, we focus on the development of an execution framework that provides lightweight DVFS support for reactive stream processing systems (RSPS). RSPs are a common form of embedded control systems, operating in direct response to inputs from their environment. At the execution framework, we focus on support for many-core scheduling for parallel execution of concurrent programs. We provide a DVFS strategy for RSPs that is simple and lightweight, to be used for dynamic adaptation of the power consumption at runtime. The simplicity of the DVFS strategy became possible by the sole focus on the application domain of RSPs. The presented DVFS strategy does not require specific assumptions about the message arrival rate or the underlying scheduling method. While DVFS is a very active field, in contrast to most existing research, our approach works also for platforms like many-core processors, where the power settings typically cannot be controlled individually for each computational unit. We also support dynamic scheduling with variable workload. While many research results are provided with simulators, in our approach, we present a parallel execution framework with experiments conducted on real hardware, using the single-chip cloud computer many-core processor. The results of our experimental evaluation confirm that our simple DVFS strategy provides potential for significant energy saving on RSPs.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
