Die Erzählungen von den zwei Brüdern, vom Fischer und dem Findelkind sowie vom Jäger Kesse Während der mittleren Epoche des hethitischen Reiches -eingeleitet von dem hurritischen Einfluß Mittanis und Kizzuwatnas -wurden bis dahin in Hattusa unbekannte literarische Werke aus Syrien und Mesopotamien am Hof von Hattusa rezipiert. Dazu gehören neben den mytho-poetischen Kumarbi-Dichtungen, dem hurritisch-hethitischen literarischen Werk "Freilassung" \ die hethitischen und hurritischen Paraphrasen oder Nachdichtungen der Gilgame §-Dichtung2 und die hethitische Atramhasls-Dichtung^ sowie die drei hier besprochenen literarischen Werke der didaktischen und erzählenden Literatur, nämlich die Erzählung von den Brüdern "Schlecht" und "Gerecht"^, die Erzählung vom Sonnengott, der Kuh und dem Fischer, sowie die einst umfangreiche Erzählung vom Jäger Kesse.5 Während letzterer auch Fragmente hurritischer Sprache zugeordnet werden können'^, geben die vielen Fragmente der hurritischen epischen Literatur noch keine gesicherten Hinweise auf die beiden anderen Dichtungen.In diesen drei literarischen Werken findet die hethitische Sprache zu poetischen Ausdrucksformen und stilistischen Techniken von kaum geringerem Niveau als die babylonischen und ugaritischen Dichtungen des 2. Jahrtausends.
