Prevalencia de Balantidium coli en la población humana y porcina asociado a factores socioeconómicos y saneamiento ambiental en el Distrito de Acora Puno PerúPrevalence of Balantidium coli in human and pig popula tions associated to socioeconomic and inveromental sanitation factors in Acora District Puno Peru Autor para correspondencia: zacariasconde@hotmail.com)Con la finalidad de determinar la prevalencia de B.coli en la población humana y porcina y su asociación con factores socioeconómicos y el saneamiento ambiental, se tomaron 221 muestras fecales humanos (niños y adultos) y 80 muestras fecales de porcinos (jóvenes y adultos) de los centros poblados de Socca ("zona lago") y Caritamaya ("zona intermedia") del distrito de Acora, provincia y departamento de Puno, Perú; estas muestras se sometieron al análisis parasitológico en el Laboratorio de Parasitología Veterinaria de la Facultad de Medicina Veterinaria y Zootecnia, Universidad Nacional del Altiplano, Puno. Para identificar los factores epidemiológicos asociados a la balantidiasis, se aplicó una encuesta a 100 personas adultas de las dos zonas citadas. Para comparar la prevalencia de B. coli entre niños y adultos; entre porcinos jóvenes y adultos y entre las dos zonas, se aplicó la prueba de Ji-cuadrada y para identificar los factores epidemiológicos asociados a la balantidiasis, la prueba de Ji-cuadrada de asociación de Pearson, utilizando el software SPSS versión v23. Se obtuvieron los siguientes resultados: La prevalencia de Balantidium coli en la población humana fue de 5,88%; 6,60% en niños y 5,00% en adultos; 8,1 % en la "zona lago" y 3,6% en la "zona intermedia". La prevalencia del parásito en la población porcina fue de 88,75 %; 91,67 % en animales jóvenes y 84,38 % en adultos; 90,00% en la "zona lago" y 87,50% en la "zona intermedia"; no existe diferencia en la prevalencia de protozoo entre niños y adultos, similarmente entre la población humana de estas dos zonas, así como entre porcinos jóvenes y adultos, igualmente entre cerdos de ambas zonas. Con respecto a la asociación de la balantidiasis y los factores socioeconómicos y saneamiento ambiental; la enfermedad, se encontraba asociada a la edad adulta de las personas y al uso de letrinas y los otros factores epidemiológicos, que no estaban asociados a la balantidiasis.
