The article discusses the main directions and problems in the study of the friend or foe dichotomy, the relationship of its subjects, and the special locus of the definition “other” in a social context. The article highlights the basic foundations of this dichotomy and the discourses of its existence. Attention is drawn to the philosophical, scientific ideas and conclusions of Russia and foreign authors, which should be used to more adequately describe the nature of the processes that characterize the interaction of diverse individual and group actors of the opposition. The study represents the author’s vision of the features of real and virtual relations of subjects, key points and possible results of their interaction when referring to them in various worldview systems is proposed.
