Este artigo apresenta uma revisão teórica introdutória sobre debates que concernem à questão do risco tecnocientífico atribuído ao desenvolvimento da Ciência e da Tecnologia. São apresentadas discussões teóricas sobre a Sociedade de Risco como resultado direto da evolução exponencial da Ciência e Tecnologia. Problematizamos sobre como a conscientização das pessoas pode ser um caminho para o engajamento e para a promoção da participação efetiva dos atores sociais nos processos decisórios sobre C&T. Objetivamos enfatizar o campo educacional como um lócus de discussão e engajamento dos atores sobre as questões relativas ao campo CTS. Procuramos estruturar uma discussão através de revisão bibliográfica e concluímos que a participação pública para o controle de riscos está diretamente relacionado à formação educacional, em diferentes níveis.
