Neste texto, resenhamos a conferência proferida pela professora Esmeralda Vailati Negrão no ciclo de conferências promovido pela Abralin Ao Vivo. Nessa conferência, Negrão discorre, entre outros tópicos, sobre aspectos sintáticos do português que podem ser resultado do contato linguístico entre diferentes povos que dividiam o espaço territorial do Brasil. A autora defende que, para que se possa compreender a estrutura da língua, é preciso que se pense o português brasileiro como uma língua colonial, resultante do multilinguismo existente durante sua consolidação. Com isso, a discussão levantada por Negrão ajuda-nos a expandir novos olhares em relação à constituição do português brasileiro, tanto voltados a sua estrutura, quanto voltados ao seu contexto sócio-histórico de surgimento.
Neste texto, resenhamos a conferência proferida pela professora doutora Mary Kato, intitulada Determinantes prosódicos em mudança sintática. Na conferência, Profa. Kato traça uma trajetória em relação aos estudos sobre o Parâmetro do Sujeito Nulo no português brasileiro (PB), explanando as principais descobertas quanto ao assunto, como forma de apresentar os novos desdobramentos sobre: a mudança sintática que há no PB quanto ao preenchimento do sujeito; e a inserção de fatores prosódicos e estilísticos com efeitos sobre a mudança. A conferência oferece importantes contribuições para o estudo sobre o parâmetro do sujeito nulo no português brasileiro, sintetizando o que já foi discutido, à medida que aponta novos caminhos a serem percorridos.
A concordância verbal de 3ª pessoa do plural (3PP) no português brasileiro (PB) tem sido amplamente estudada em diversas regiões do Brasil. No entanto, dados de produção não conseguem, sozinhos, apresentar resultados da dimensão societal do fenômeno. Em vista disso, o objetivo deste trabalho é apresentar evidências que projetam avaliação social a respeito da variação na concordância verbal de 3PP. São apresentadas e analisadas diferentes fontes perceptuais – como os instrumentos normativos, matérias, reportagens e memes compartilhados nas redes sociais – como meios de observar pistas a respeito da dimensão societal do fenômeno e de que forma esse processo pode resultar em preconceito linguístico, disseminado nos diversos espaços sociais.
Nesta pesquisa, descrevemos os usos de seu e dele referentes de 3ª pessoa no português falado por universitários do estado de Sergipe. Com base em McKay e Fulkerson (1979), consideramos que os pronomes seu e dele, além de atuarem como substitutos, assumem função de determinação de seus antecedentes. A partir do método descritivo/inferencial, e com apoio da Sociolinguística Variacionista, fizemos a quantificação e análise de 34 entrevistas sociolinguísticas – retiradas do banco de dados Falares Sergipanos (FREITAG, 2013) – feitas com falantes universitários das cidades sergipanas de Aracaju, Itabaiana e São Cristóvão. Obtivemos um total de 392 realizações do fenômeno, sendo 50% (197/392) para a forma dele. Notamos que há produtividade dos possessivos como dominantes, embora com baixa frequência (6% 24/392), predominando a função substituta. As demais variáveis independentes apontam que os possessivos de 3P ocorrem em contextos específicos de uso.
