ResumenEn tanto género percusivo y danzario propio de la población afrodescendiente, el candombe es parte de aquello que Paul Gilroy ha definido como Atlántico Negro. Particularmente, el candombe de estilo (afro)uruguayo ha presentado a lo largo de las últimas décadas un inusitado desarrollo en la Argentina. Tal proceso debe su origen a la circulación de bienes culturales, símbolos, saberes y personas por sobre las fronteras nacionales existentes entre Argentina y Uruguay, en el contexto de recientes regímenes militares que convergen finalmente en las democracias de estos dos países. Teniendo como principal propósito analizar la relación que se presenta en nuestra región entre música, política y etnicidad, revelaremos la incidencia del autoritarismo para con la relocalización de este género. En el marco de una apuesta por la historiografía de la música, haremos explícitas las continuidades y rupturas entre democracia y dictadura, entendiéndolas como parte de un devenir histórico más amplio con el que es necesario construir ligaduras. El análisis específico de la performance que actualmente nuclea a esta inmigración atiende a las diferentes articulaciones de sentido con las cuales los actores vinculan pasado y presente. Se problematiza así también la distinción entre memoria e historia, y el rol actual del Estado argentino en la medida en que las narrativas de los actores ponen a estos dispositivos institucionales en cuestión.Palabras clave: candombe afrouruguayo, Buenos Aires, democracia y dictadura. AbstractInsofar as the percussive and dance genre, characteristic of the Afro-descendent population, the candombe, in its diferent variations, is part of what Paul Gilroy has defined as Atlántico Negro. The candombe of Afro-Uruguayan style in particular has shown in the last decades an unprecedented development in Argentina. Such process owes its origin to the flow of cultural goods, symbols, knowledge and people over existing national borders between Argentina and Uruguay, in the frame of the recent military regimes and finally converging in the democracy of the above mentioned countries.Having as the main purpose to analyze the relationship that is present in our region between music, politics and ethnicity, we will reveal the incidence of authoritarianism towards the relocation of this genre in the light of our commitment to history of music as continuities and
