O aproveitamento dos resíduos florestais como fonte energética é uma opção para melhor aproveitamento de recursos renováveis e uma estratégia de substituição de combustíveis fósseis. Contudo esses resíduos precisam ser melhorados para essa função, e a compactação da biomassa é uma forma de aumentar a qualidade desse material para fins energéticos. O objetivo do trabalho foi produzir briquetes de dois resíduos dos processamentos da madeira de Pinus spp., serragem e licor negro, e avaliar as diferentes proporções de licor negro nos briquetes (0, 5, 10 e 15%). Para avaliação dos briquetes foram realizados os testes de expansão, densidade aparente, friabilidade, análise química imediata, poder calorífico superior e densidade energética. O aumento do percentual de licor negro provocou melhora nas expansões lateral e volumétrica, na densidade aparente, no teor de materiais voláteis e no teor de carbono fixo, contudo não foram encontrados ganhos na friabilidade, na expansão em altura e nas características energéticas dos briquetes.
