Resumo: O solo é o fator do meio que comanda mais diretamente o estabelecimento e a regeneração da vegetação. Para que áreas degradadas tornem-se produtivas, é necessária a recuperação de seus processos bióticos. Em áreas onde ocorra baixa disponibilidade de P, a simbiose entre as plantas e micorriza arbuscular pode tornar-se uma importante alternativa para proporcionar um bom desenvolvimento. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o crescimento inicial de Mimosa caesalpiniaefolia Benth. (sabiá), em um solo pobre em P, em resposta à inoculação com fungos micorrízicos arbusculares (FMA). O experimento foi instalado em casa de vegetação. O delineamento estatístico adotado foi o inteiramente casualizado composto de três tratamentos (solo estéril, esterco e FMA) e seis repetições. Os resultados indicam que a inoculação de fungos micorrízicos possui contribuições para o crescimento das plantas, o que sugere que sua aplicação seja benéfica no estabelecimento de plantas de sabiá em condições naturais, com solo pobre em P.
