A 9-year old child presented with tubercular retropharyngeal abscess leading to stridor. Tubercular retropharyngeal abscess is an extremely rare condition in children. Early management reduces the risk of lethal complications. Due to the absence of classical signs, the diagnosis may be delayed. Therefore, adequate radiological investigations and microbiological studies of aspirate must be done to rule out tubercular aetiology. Conservative medical management should be given in uncomplicated cases. Surgical drainage must be done in cases resistant to medical therapy or presenting with complications.

Nasal endoscopy and computed tomography (CT) scans are used as diagnostic modalities of paranasal sinus disease. A randomized study was carried over 40 patients diagnosed with chronic rhinosinusitis who undervent a diagnostic nasal endoscopy and a CT scan. The purpose of the study was to demonstrate the effectiveness and limitations of CT and endoscopy in assessment of CRS. In this study we observed that endoscopy was superior for assessment of localized disease like polyp, pathological secretion, presence of accessory maxillary ostia and condition of mucosa. CT scan gave a better idea of the condition of paranasal sinuses, the osteomeatal complex and various anatomical variations including concha bullosa, paradoxical middle turbinate and deviated nasal septum.

Chondroid syringomas are uncommon cutaneous neoplasms of sweat gland origin which are slow-growing, nontender, subcutaneous or intracutaneous in location and often occurring in the head and neck region. Chondroid syringoma should be considered in the differential diagnosis of any subcutaneous nodule over the face. The clinician may miss the diagnosis of this lesion and if it is suspected, tumour should be excised with a margin of normal tissue and regular follow up should be done.
