Resumo Este artigo busca arregimentar observações sobre a produção epistemológica e metodológica desenvolvida por Michael Burawoy, sociólogo marxista e professor da Universidade de Berkeley. São apresentados cinco momentos de análise, que exploram a oposição entre o modelo reflexivo de ciência e a ciência positiva, o método do estudo de caso ampliado, sua análise do campo disciplinar da sociologia norte-americana, as respostas a críticas extraídas de Becker e Lakatos e a sua compreensão da estrutura social em contraponto ao funcionalismo estruturalista.
Resumo Este artigo apresenta um estudo de caso sobre o uso de metodologias participativas como instrumento de diagnóstico da violação ao direito à água e acesso à justiça de mulheres atingidas no caso do rompimento da barragem que contaminou a bacia do rio Doce em 2015. O diagnóstico foi elaborado a partir da articulação entre as mulheres atingidas, o Movimento de Atingidos por Barragens (MAB) e a Defensoria Pública do Espírito Santo.
