In recent years, there has been a constant deficit of students in technical specialities in higher educational institutions. This problem is especially significant for industrial engineering area. To solve this issue, the authors initiated the joint project with participation of three universities in the Baltic region. This project aims to develop a new approach for preparing schoolchildren to choose the right profession through collective efforts of university, schools and enterprises. Authors address the critical issue in this paper, the gap between the needs of companies in the region and university education. Authors introduce this problem based on the questionnaire answers provided by the metal and machinery industries of the Baltic countries. Results of the current analysis may be useful to other nations and readers can apply them to other sectors.
Teacher professional activity, its quality and work effi ciency are conditioned by social changes and educational reforms. Th e following question guides this analysis: What is the impact of professional burnout and professional satisfaction on the development of teachers' professional career? Th e analysis of scientifi c literature was selected for the theoretical explanation of the research problem as well as a quantitative research method was selected for the empirical research. Th e indicators on the questionnaire scales provided an opportunity to determine the links between Lithuanian teachers' professional burnout and vocational satisfaction according to diff erent stress dimensions. Statistical analyses were performed using IBM SPSS 23. Th e results of theoretical and empirical research made it possible to establish the main factors aff ecting teachers' professional career:1) signifi cantly reduced ability to work, productivity, lack of work-life balance and self-control at work (professional burnout factors); 2) personal fulfi lment and self-realisation and wishing to contribute to social well-being (professional satisfaction factors).
