We report on a concept of a fiber MOPA based quasi-CW laser working at high modulation bandwidths up to 40 MHz capable of producing arbitrary pulse durations at arbitrary repetition rates. An output power of over 100 W was achieved and an on-off contrast of 25 dB. The laser features a dual-channel (dual-wavelength) seed source, a double stage YDF amplifier and a volume-Bragg-grating-based signal de-multiplexer. Minimization of transients was conducted through experiment and model analysis.
Power Scaling of a Q-switched laser designed for internal frequency conversion is demonstrated by combining two Nd:YVO4-gain-channels with a time-multiplexing scheme based on a single crystal photo elastic modulator (SCPEM). Both channels are coupled with a polarizer and share an output-coupler and acousto-optic modulator (AOM). In order to combine two channels by time multiplexing, the single crystal photo elastic modulator is used which switches between two channels, while the acousto-optic modulator conducts the Q-switching. This allows almost to double the average output power and repetition rate within a given laser resonator design.
We report on a reduced-complexity laser-diode-seeded master-oscillator-power-amplifier setup of a continuous wave fiber laser, with a single-stage ytterbium doped photonic crystal fiber amplifier. The laser is capable of generating up to 7.5 W single-transverse-mode, narrow-linewidth, polarized output suitable for second harmonic generation. The approach used possesses a further power scaling potential.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
