Las áreas verdes públicas (AVP) ofrecen múltiples beneficios a la población de las ciudades. Un acceso inequitativo a estos espacios para los diferentes grupos socioeconómicos de la población representaría una injusticia espacial. En este artículo, se analiza la distribución de las AVP en Ciudad Juárez, México, a fin de determinar la relación entre sus características de ubicación, número, tamaño y dotación con respecto a las características socioeconómicas de la población que habita en las cercanías. Mediante el análisis espacial, se definen cinco zonas de la ciudad correspondientes a cada categoría de un índice socioeconómico (ISE), donde se estudian las AVP que hay dentro de cada una de ellas. Los resultados muestran una marcada diferencia a favor de las zonas donde habita la población con mayores privilegios socioeconómicos; esta tendencia es clara, ya que, conforme se desciende en la escala socioeconómica, disminuye también la calidad de las características analizadas en las AVP.
